Explorable by Elegant Themes is a responsive, location-based theme for travel blogs, travel guides and directories. The theme comes with Google Maps integration, a custom post type for Listings and a five-star Rating system.
Elegant Themes Explorable supports natively one WordPress 3 menu – left aligned in the header.
The theme installs with five custom widgets:
- About Me
- Adsense Widget
This theme from Elegant Themes incorporates four widgetized areas:
- three Footer columns
The theme offers the following collection of page templates:
- Full Width
You have the ability to upload a custom header background image to each individual page and post.
Explorable adds a panel to the WordPress menu for the custom post type Listings with its own categories (Types) and tags (Locations). The Listings post screen has been extended with ET Settings where you can enter the locations latitude, longitude and address.
Not familiar with the coordinates of a location? Enter the address and Explorable will detect these values for you. Additional custom fields allow you to enter a description and rating (up to five starts) for the location regarding.
The homepage of Explorable displays a world map. By default, the theme shows all locations on this map as a pin. Clicking a pin displays the Listing post. Visitor are able to filter the locations per Listing Type (category), Location (tag) and Rating. Not only the author, but visitors too are able to rate a Listing.
Next the default map, visitors can choose for Satellite and Terrain. Zooming in and out is a done by scrolling with the mouse button. The theme allows visitors to toggle to expand a list view at the right hand side of the screen.
The Explorable theme options serve seven vertical tabbed tabs:
- General Settings
- Layout Settings
- Ad Management
- Support Docs
On its turn, each of these tabs area serves one or more horizontal tabs.
The General Settings allow you to upload a logo, favicon, and main background image. Furthermore, you are able to enter the number of posts for the category, archive, search and tag pages.
Usually CMS-based themes by ElegantThemes offer a [Blog Style post format] button that transforms the custom homepage into a blog-styled homepage. Explorable does not serve such a button, but of course it is possible to set the blog template as a static homepage.
Within the Navigation settings you can exclude certain pages and categories from the navigation bar, switch the sorting, enable the home link and activate the use of dropdown menus.
The Featured Image will show up on index pages, as well as on single post pages as the first image. You can disable the automatic placing of thumbs on single posts, pages and index pages at the Layout Settings – this will give you more control over the image dimensions per individual post.
The Ad Management allows you to enable a 468×60 banner which will be displayed on single post pages directly under the post content.
At the SEO page you can alter the default search engine optimization settings; homepage title, homepage meta description, homepage meta keywords, enable canonical URL’s, and enter your custom separation character.
Any tracking code like Google Analytics can be entered on the Integration page.
